Transitioning Into Spring
This year has flown by and I can’t believe today is the first day of May! I have only one week left in Europe before I head back to America for the summer, and it is crazy to look back on all the adventures I have had in the past few months. From Sweden to Romania to Greece and Germany (and all the places I haven’t yet blogged about!), it has been a wonderful three months. The next week is going to be spent saying bye to Tristan (we won’t see each other again for another month) and my family in England (who hopefully I will see sooner rather than later!).
That being said, as it gets closer to my departure date, I am really looking forward to be heading back to LA to be reunited with my immediate family and the sunshine! It is starting to get warm in Athens, but most days I still find myself retreating back to wearing a jumper and jeans. Of course, Europe is on the cusp of its infamous warm days — complete with higher prices and endless lines of tourists — but they haven’t quite debuted while I have been around.
Last week I began the transition into spring with a thrifted crop-top and high-waisted skirt combination that I have been itching to wear since I bought them as a pair in LA back in January. I loved the paper-bag-like shape of this BCBG skirt and was rather proud of myself for reaching for an item that can definitely be considered a “basic”. Initially I presumed that I would pair it with some of my brighter colour crop-tops and blouses, but in the same vintage store I came across this crop-top which I thought went perfectly with the colouring of the skirt.
The snake-like pattern of the shirt was so wonderful and intricate that I figured, despite the darker colour scheme, it would brighten the minimal skirt up enough to produce an outfit that would still feel like me.
BCBG is a store I always forget to browse online, but after looking to see if I could find a similar skirt (I didn’t!), I came across some other lovely pieces they have this season. I loved this jacquard crop-top and skirt combination, as well as this satin jumpsuit, and these amazing leather wedged sandals. They always have the prettiest dresses like this lace dress, this floral-print dress (perfect for Mother’s Day!), this halter dress, and this stunning crystal blue tulle gown (if anyone is in need of a gown!).
On this day I kept the top and bottom of the outfit black with one of my favourite Zara hats and my new Mango sandals, and then added a pop of colour with my mosaic vintage bag from Berlin (vintage haul here) and my vintage bracelet and necklace from Lisbon (vintage haul here).
Kitten-heels sandals are one of my go-to shoes in the summer because they allow me to add a little bit of height, while still remaining comfortable. I love these Mango ones because the mesh detailing adds a little bit of unexpected sexiness. Mango is another store I often forget about, but they currently have so many amazing pairs of shoes! I am drooling over these platform sandals, these linen wedges, these silver leather mules, these Gucci-inspired loafers, and these snake-effect platforms. Luckily, I don’t have anymore space in any of my bags for another pair of shoes, so I am going to remain drooling over them from my laptop.
I hope everyone has a lovely start to their week! I actually was full of cold all weekend and although I forced myself to go on a day-trip on Saturday (I had already paid for it), I spent the rest of the weekend chugging orange juice and sleeping. So now I am very much looking forward to getting out of the apartment and enjoying my last few days in Greece!
