Vintage Turban & White Lace
I am currently sitting at LAX because today is my last day in LA for a couple of months and I am already missing being here! As I mentioned in my last post, there are lots of exciting things happening over the next few weeks; but, even so, it still always feels bittersweet pulling into LAX with the knowledge that I won’t be touching back down here soon. Driving around the city this weekend I had so many pangs of sadness, so I just kept reminding myself how lucky I am to feel so passionately about a place that I can always return to. Luckily, the next month of adventure also includes Tristan, so I didn’t have that extra level of goodbyes to say.
Although today was full of goodbyes, this morning I moved out of my sister’s (now old) apartment and once again moved all my stuff into my storage unit. Then I returned my leased car which was without a doubt the saddest part of the day! My little Focus and I have had so many good times and have been on so many adventures together over the past couple of years – I can’t believe I will never again blast music out of her speakers and hit the open road. But, as I always say, its just the end of another chapter!
Tonight I am heading to Cleveland to see my family for a few days, before I reunite with Tristan in New York on Sunday. I can’t wait to see everyone and head back to some of my favourite spots in Cleveland — I will do my best to take you along with us on Instagram! But before all that I wanted to share with you these images that we shot last week in Santa Monica. I found this vintage turban in a beautiful store in Manchester earlier in the year and have been dying to style it ever since. Oftentimes when I buy vintage pieces it takes me a while to actually wear them, as I am always waiting for the perfect combination.
Inspiration always strikes in some form or the other and one evening I thought about combining it with this lace dress I found on Amazon. What initially drew me to both of the pieces was the fact that each of them are completely neutral colour palettes, but have lots of detail when you glance at them closer. The lace overlay on the dress is beautiful and the floral design on the turban adds an unexpected twist. So paired together they make a lovely combo — a fact that is merely increased by the complementary neutral colours. Such an unusual look!
They are calling my gate, so I gotta go! Talk to you when I get to Cleveland! xoxo
