One-Shoulder Leather Dress
It is almost the weekend, I just arrived back in LA, and today is Tristan’s birthday! So, it is safe to say that I am definitely in a rather festive and very celebratory mood! Driving across the country was an incredible experience and one that I hope to have again and again throughout my life. There are still so many states for me to breathe in, so many cities for me to explore, and so many people for me to meet whose stories I want to hear. Luckily, I love driving, so I am pretty positive there will be lots more road-trips in my future! But, for now, I am so happy to be back with T in my fabulous LA! I have loads of new clothes to shoot for the blog, so expect those to be coming soon — after I finish up all my NYC style posts and my Cuba travel posts!
I love all forms of faux-leather, from my beloved faux leather pants that make me feel slightly more like a rockstar to my throw-on-and-go silver metallic faux leather jacket that has been on the blog here, here, here and here! (I pack it wherever I go!) to a pair of sexy, strappy heels. Leather dresses are a go-to look for me as well, although it can be hard to find one that doesn’t look “desperate”. When done right, leather dresses can be a powerful message of feminine badass-ness that no other material can emulate.
This particular one floats into 80s territory with its bold, puffy one-shoulder. I love anything that is sexy, but not in an obvious way. Covering up one arm with an excessive amount of material keeps this rather short dress from being overly provocative. In fact, Tristan thought that it was better described as “ridiculous” rather than “sexy”; but, I felt like a total rebel, especially when paired with my sky-high Marc Jacobs platforms and colourful Zara earrings.
Faux leather is a great fabric to introduce into your closet in the fall and winter months, as it never goes out of style and can be seamlessly dressed up or down with lots of pieces you already have. A great pair of leather pants can work for most evening activities and look fabulous with statement booties and sneakers alike. At the moment, I have my eyes on these Current/Elliott coated stiletto jeans and these more slouchy looking ones from H&M. Actually, H&M often have some of my all-time favourite faux leather pieces like this heart-studded jacket, this beautiful calf-length skirt, this closet essential mini-skirt, and this studded dress. I would love to pair that calf-length skirt with a feminine blouse or a soft cashmere knit!
Another one of my favourite online stores, SheIn, also has a lot of great, really affordable faux leather pieces. How cute would this faux leather beret and this faux leather bakerboy hat look with cozy winter outfits? After all, headwear is a major trend this fall! And I think this frilly strapped top would fill a large void in my closet, I can envision it with so many different pairs of pants and skirts! Finally, I can’t not mention this adorable star patched miniskirt, this pink belted coat, this irresistibly sexy off-the shoulder jacket, and this zip-up leather dress that is begging for a wild night-out.
